浄土真宗とキリスト教は似ているという指摘がある。

「第十八願は、浄土を信じて、十遍でも念仏の心をもった衆生が、浄土に生まれ変われなれば、じぶんは覚りをもつまいという阿弥陀の誓いをさしていて、称名念仏が、救済の本意だという絶対他力の根拠をなしている」（「親鸞［決定版］P50）
「God created us said,Go now,my child,you have freedom.And God has such an incredible reverence for that freedom that God would much rather me went freely to hell than compel us to come to heaven.Yes,We’re capable of the most awful atrocities we can give a catalog.And God weeps until there are those who say I do want to try to do something」（「The Bookof Joy」P116）
